Veraison!
Veraison! This is the term for color change in the fruit of the vineyard. This is the start of the ripening process when we see the Pinot Noir grapes turn from a green color to dark purple, as the sugar content (measured in Brix) begins to increase and the pH, or acidity, begins to fall. Veraison is on the early side this year, probably due to our warm dry summer thus far. We should anticipate harvest sometime between the middle of September and early October. This is a very exciting time of the year in the Vineyard. Harvest is fast approaching, and we can hardly contain ourselves.
